A recent article published in Journal for Academic Emergency Medicine has shown that the GFAP protein is a reliable biomarker for traumatic brain injury (TBI), the most comon cause of injury and death in children en young adults. An accurate diagnosis of the level TBI is currently very difficult to make. An objective GFAP based test would increase the accuracy of diagnosis significantly.
